Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ? The UALR Trojans baseball team (2-10, 0-1) wasted good pitching performances from Nathan Parker and Levi Laughlin and a 4-for-4 day at the plate from Kody Kroll as they fell to the UTM Skyhawks (1-9) by a 2-0 score at Gary Hogan Field. The team got four of their eight hits in the first two innings, but pitchers Eric Walker and Travis Webb scattered the rest of the hits over the last seven innings.
Parker got the start for the Trojans and was perfect through the first two innings. He got the first two outs to start the third but a fielding error by third baseman Tommy Mousel kept the inning going for UTM. After a single by Ryan Lantz, Scott Gladstone singled through the right side to score Shay Martin.
Parker was able to finish out the inning with the damage contained. He went through the fourth and fifth innings before giving way to Laughlin in the top of the sixth.
Laughlin started strong striking out the first two hitters he faced and getting Chris Rezabek to ground out to end the inning. Laughlin also got through the seventh inning, keeping runners out of scoring position.
In the top of the eighth, Kyle Dudley led off with a double to left field when TJ King slipped on the chase. After advancing to third on a groundout, Dudley scored when Wes Patterson doubled to deep center field.
After getting out of trouble in the eighth, Laughlin threw a four-pitch ninth to keep Trojan hopes alive.
Kroll was the team's best hitter on the day, going 4-for-4 with four singles. Catcher Robert Taylor also had two hits on the day for the Trojans.
UALR concludes the two-game series with the Skyhawks tomorrow at Gary Hogan Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
