Box Score
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ? The UALR Trojans (7-10) scored
three runs in the top of the ninth to force extra innings but came up just shy,
as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (10-5) scored two in the bottom of the 11th for
a 10-9 victory at J.C. Love Field on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs took a three-run lead into the ninth but Matt Apfel and Nate Brown led off the top half of the inning with back-to-back
singles. After a groundout to second advanced both runners, Tim Emmons drew a walk to load the
bases. Landis Wilson then drove in a
run on a fielder's choice, cutting the lead to 9-7. With two outs, Kody Kroll kept the game going with an
RBI single to left field. Pinch-runner Daniel
Guffey then tied the game at 9-9 when he scored on a wild pitch.
UALR took the lead in the top of the 11th when Emmons
scored on an error by the shortstop after he had reached on a single and
advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout to second.
The Trojans could not hold the lead, however, as a bases
loaded walk and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Patrick Thomas in the bottom of
the 11th sealed the fate for UALR.
Gavin Gray was saddled with the loss, dropping
his record to 0-3. Kyle Roiard was credited with the win for the Bulldogs, improving
his record to 2-0. Rolliard pitched 2.0 innings and allowed one run on two UALR
hits.
Leading the way offensively for the Trojans was Emmons.
Emmons, the designated hitter, finished the night going 3-for-5 with a home
run, his fourth of the year, two RBI and two runs scored. Apfel also homered
for the fourth time this season and finished 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs
scored. Tyson Parks also added three
hits at the plate, improving his season average to .275.
Louisiana Tech was led by Patrick's 2-for-6, three RBI
outing which included the game-winning RBI. Alex Williams added three hits and an
RBI and Nick Grunewald hit his second home run of the season, helping lift the
Bulldogs to the win.
The Trojans will return to the diamond this weekend when
they head back into Louisiana

two teams will kick off the weekend Friday as game time is scheduled for 6:30
