WKU Completes Sweep of Trojans, 12-2

Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. ? Shane Cameron no-hit the UALR baseball team (14-30, 5-17) for the first 5.2 innings on Sunday afternoon to help WKU (35-12, 19-5) complete a three-game sweep of the Trojans with a 12-2 victory at Nick Denes Field.

Cameron improved to 5-1 on the year after racking up eight strikeouts over 5.2 frames. He retired the first nine batters he faced before issuing a leadoff walk to junior Nate Brown in the fourth, and surrendered just two hits and two runs during his outing. Relievers Evan Teague and Ben Paxton combined to hold the Trojans hitless over the final 1.1 innings.

WKU tallied 16 hits and scored three-or-more runs in three consecutive innings on its way to run ruling the Trojans in seven innings. Five different Hilltoppers enjoyed a multi-hit effort, led by a 3-for-3 day at the plate from J.B. Paxson.

Trailing 10-0, senior Daniel Guffey broke up the no-hitter with a pinch-hit triple in the top of the sixth. Guffey scored UALR's first run of the game on a two-out, RBI single by junior Tim Emmons. Emmons worked his way over to third with two-straight stolen bases, and scored UALR's final run on a wild pitch.

UALR starter Adam Champion (3-6) was tagged with the loss after allowing seven hits and six runs over 3.2 innings of work.

The Trojans return to action this weekend when they travel to New Orleans, La. for a three-game series with the Privateers.
