LITTLE ROCK – The UALR swimming and diving team dropped its meet against Rice 127-56 despite a solid performance from freshman Valeriya Teplova, who won the 50 free and was a part of a relay squad that took first.
Teplova swam a 24:62 to earn an individual win in the 50 free. In the 200 free relay she swam the same distance in 24:27 to anchor her team to victory. She was joined by senior Kara Raney, freshman Courtney Coe and junior Meghan Petersen to finish the race in 1:40.13 nearly a second faster than their competition.
Raney grabbed a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 54:35. Freshman Jinson Kang took two top-3 finishes with a third in the 200 IM (2:24.92) and a second in the 500 free (5:18.20). Trumbach added a third-place finish of her own in the 100 breastroke touching the wall in 1:08.89.
Seniors Holly Myers and Hope Myers took third and fourth respectively in the 100 backstroke. Hope Myers earned another fourth in the 200 IM and a fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Freshman Kayla Grimm scored points for the Trojans earning a fourth in the 500 free and a fifth in the 200 free. Petersen nabbed a fifth-place finish in the 50 free.
The Trojans will be back in action for their final meet of the regular season on Friday when they welcome Vanderbilt to the Donaghey Aquatic Center at 4 p.m.
