Meet ResultsLOUISVILLE, Ky. – Little Rock cross country runner
Isaac Lalang represented the program very well at the NCAA Championship on Saturday, finishing in 212th place to cap off an amazing first season with the program.
Â
Lalang's presence at the meet was impressive by itself, as he was just the third runner in Trojan history to make the national championship. Lalang was also Little Rock's first representative on the national stage since 2002.
Â
He began the race in good form, placing 23rd through the first two kilometers in the 10K race. He was just seven seconds off the leader at that point, crossing the 2K mark at 5:45.5.
Â
But at the next checkpoint, Lalang dropped off a bit from that top pack. At 5.2 kilometers, he had fallen to 150th place. Through eight kilometers, he was in 194th.
Â
Lalang would finish the race in 212th place with a time of 32:16.5.
Â
The junior college transfer – just a sophomore for cross country purposes – still has two more seasons of cross country to look forward to with the Trojans. In his stellar first season with the team, he broke the school's 8K record and is second on the all-time list in the 10K.
Â
Lalang and the rest of the Trojans will be back to work once the indoor track and field season begins in December. The track and field schedule will be announced soon.
