Lalang Wins Second Straight Little Rock Invitational

LITTLE ROCK – Isaac Lalang ran away with the race at the Little Rock Invitational on Saturday morning, claiming the individual title for the second consecutive year at the Rebasmen Golf Course.
 
Lalang finished the 8K course 21 seconds faster than his closest competitor, crossing the finish line in 25:08.8 at the Trojans' lone home meet of the season.
 
The Trojans had two other individual finishers in the top 10 as Imad Amenzou took fifth place and Kennedy Chumba was right behind him in sixth. Amenzou came over the finish line in 25:38.7, and Chumba's time was 25:49.8.
 
Emilio Medina placed just outside the top 10, coming in 12th in 26:19.5 to be the Trojans' fourth runner. Tyler Davis was 15th as an individual and the fifth Trojan runner to complete the course, breaking the 27-minute mark with a time of 26:53.1.
 
Kenneth Broyles also ran for the Trojans, placing 18th overall and finishing with a time of 27:17.1.
 
As a team, the Trojans took second place among Division I schools with a total of 39 points. Central Arkansas won the race with 32 points, just edging the Trojans out.
 
Saturday's race was the Trojans' final regular-season race of the year. The team now has two weeks to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championship, set for October 29 in Dothan, Alabama.
