LITTLE ROCK – Rebsamen Golf Course will be home to the Little Rock Invitational on Saturday morning, giving Trojan cross country fans a chance to cheer for Little Rock at its lone home meet of the season.
Â
Action begins with the men's race at 10 a.m., and the women's race will follow at 10:45 a.m. The men will be running an 8K, and the women will run a 5K.
Â
Little Rock will be racing against competition from nine other schools including Sun Belt rival Arkansas State and other Natural State foes in Central Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, Arkansas-Monticello, UAPB, Henderson State, College of the Ozarks and Central Baptist.
Â
Little Rock last competed two weeks ago at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville. At that meet, the Trojans were led by
Isaac Lalang and
Hunter Paul.
Â
The Trojans have a strong history of success at their home meet. Last year, Lalang and Wallenius each broke the school record for their distances, and Lalang won the race for the men. In 2014,
Emma Dahl set the then-school record in the 5K when she won, and
John Vodacek led a 1-2-3-4 finish for the men. In 2013,
Shaun Koehn placed second for the men while
Emma Dahl took third.
Â
Saturday's meet will be the final home meet and regular-season meet of the year for Little Rock's team. The Trojans will have two weeks to rest up before the Sun Belt Championship in Hampton, Ga., on Nov. 1.
