Little Rock Takes Four-Set Loss at Troy

TROY, Ala. – After digging itself a 2-0 hole, Little Rock volleyball couldn't recover as it fell 3-1 (20-25, 22-25, 27-25, 20-25) to Troy on Saturday night at Trojan Arena.
 
Veronica Marin led Little Rock (7-16, 3-8 Sun Belt) with 16 kills and a .351 hitting percentage. Marina Avram earned her ninth double-double of the season with 13 kills and a team-high 10 digs. Taylor Lindberg earned 43 assists with four kills, seven digs and two block assists. Daisha Gillard led Little Rock with five block assists.
 
Logan Page and Savannah Moore led Troy (9-16, 3-7 Sun Belt) with 13 kills apiece while Moore hit a match-high .750 on 16 swings. Bethany Cullity led the match with 18 digs, and Logan Page had a match-high seven total blocks.
 
Little Rock struggled in the first set as it never took a lead while tying the frame on six occasions. Troy hit .375 for the set while Little Rock hit .139.
 
Things looked better for Little Rock in the second set as it led late at 21-20 with a 3-0 run, but the momentum wore off as Troy went on a 5-1 run to end the set. Troy hit .244 for the set while Little Rock hit .200. Marin had five kills on six attempts while Mya Robinson put up three solo blocks.
 
Little Rock extended the match with a third-set win in extra points. With Troy earning match point at 24-23, Little Rock went on a 4-1 run and took the set with a block by Gillard and Maritza Mesa. Avram led the set with six kills, and Lindberg tallied 15 assists.
 
Tied at 19 in the fourth set, Troy went on a 6-1 run to win the set and match. Marin led the set with six kills.
 
Robinson finished the match with seven kills and four total blocks. Mesa put down six kills with five digs, three block assists and an ace. Sydnee Martin had eight digs while Jovana Cernjanski had seven digs. Kassidy Hopkins finished the match with five digs, and Tamaira Armstrong ended the match with two kills and two block assists.
 
Little Rock will return to action on Friday as it hosts Georgia Southern at the Jack Stephens Center.
