LITTLE ROCK - The fourth annual Little Rock Baseball First Pitch Banquet, presented by Thompson Electric, will be held Friday, January 25 at 6:30 p.m., inside Fisher Court at the Jack Stephens Center.

This year's honoree will be Major League catcher James McCann, signed Wednesday by the Chicago White Sox. A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, McCann was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award, presented annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher.
McCann represented the United States at the 2011 World Baseball Classic as well as the 2011 Pan American Games, guiding the U.S. to the silver medal. He has spent five years in the Detroit Tigers organization, making his MLB debut in September of 2014, batting .240 with 40 home runs and 177 RBI while throwing out 37 percent of base stealers – the best rate among American League catchers since 2014 with at least 300 games caught.
"We're excited for another First Pitch Banquet that will highlight the achievements of our players and give us an opportunity to introduce the 2019 Little Rock Trojans to the community," said head coach
Chris Curry. "Our keynote speaker for this year is James McCann, who is one of the highest quality individuals I've had the pleasure to coach. We'll have many alumni and friends there, and so we're looking forward to it and hope the community will come out and support us."
The banquet will showcase the entire 2019 Trojans baseball program, featuring the core of returning players from last year's 28-win team, as well as a number of newcomers. Players will be signing autographs throughout the evening and meeting fans of all ages.
