Wildcats Wiggle Past Trojans 53-47

LITTLE ROCK – The Kansas State Wildcats (7-2) wiggled past the Little Rock Trojans (2-6) 53-47 Saturday afternoon in the first game of the day's double feature.

The Trojans got off to a rocky start, trailing 18-2 in the first quarter, but would mount a comeback starting in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 11, 32-20, at halftime.

The squads dual continued in the third quarter with both teams tallying 11 points in the period. Little Rock dug in during the fourth quarter and continued its climb, bringing itself within one during a five-minute run where the Trojans outscored K-State 5-1.

The Wildcats would sink four straight shots from the charity stripe, propelling them to a 40-45 advantage, that would be too much to overcome despite Kyra Collier making a jumper to bring the Trojans within three with a minute left to play.

Collier led the home team with 15 points and she has been the Trojan's leading scoring for three sequential contests, the first time she has done so in her career. Sydney Chastain logged a career-high 12 points, going four-of-five from beyond the arc, and Raeyana ReGray tied her season-high output with 10 points. This is the third time this season that Little Rock has had three players register 10 or more points.

Little Rock is on the road for the remainder of 2018, with its next matchup coming Monday, Dec. 17 at Tulsa.
