Warren Breaks Program Record; Places Second in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – Senior Justin Warren completed a tournament for the record books, finishing second among 83 competitors with an 11-under 202 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. Led by Warren's effort, Little Rock placed sixth overall with a 7-under 845, the third-lowest tournament in program history.

Warren rewrote the Little Rock record book with his performance in north Texas as his 202 goes down as the lowest 54-hole tournament score in Trojan program history. The score bests Matias Calderon's previous record of 205, set in 2013 at the Jim West Intercollegiate, while his 11-under score matches Calderon's total for the lowest score to par in program history.

After shooting a 7-under 64 in round one (also a program record) and a 5-under 66 in round two, Warren held the individual lead with 18 holes to play, and improved that edge through the first seven holes, notching a pair of birdies to sit at 14-under. But a double bogey on hole eight, followed by bogeys on 11 and 15 dropped Warren into second place as he finished two shots back of North Texas' Thomas Rosenmueller (13-under 200) for the individual title.

But Warren continued to improve his all-time stats in a Trojan uniform, improving his season scoring average to 69.20 and dropping his career average to 73.61. He now has registered 15 rounds of par-or-better and notched his second-straight top-10 finish, giving him three for his Little Rock career.

Junior Danial Durisic and sophomore Marcel Rauch tied for 25th in the individual standings at even-par 213 through the 54-hole event. Durisic closed out his tournament with a 1-over 73 while Rauch carded a 1-under 70 to lead the Trojans on the final day of competition. In his first collegiate event, Rauch had a pair of sub-par rounds, posting a 1-under 70 on both the first and last days of the tournament.

Junior Logan Pate finished tied for 45th overall with a 4-over 217, including a 3-over 74 over the final 18 holes. Sophomore Aaron Ramos rounded out the Trojan scorecard with a 10-over 223, finishing tied for 69th individually.

As a team, Little Rock ranked fourth among the field in par-five scoring at 22-under, posting an average of 4.51 per hole. Warren was efficient on the par-fives, tied for the tournament low at 8-under, while ranking tied for eighth in the par-fours (2-under, 3.94) and tied for seventh in the par-threes (1-under, 2.92).

Entering the final round in fifth-place, Little Rock fell one spot after shooting a 5-over 289 to finish the event with the 7-under 845. That total is second only to the 844 the Trojans posted at the 2014 HBU Husky Invitational and the 1998 Rocky Mountain Men's Intercollegiate and two strokes better than the 847 recorded on a pair of occasions.

Baylor captured the team title at 28-under 824, edging out host SMU (27-under 825) by one stroke. College of Charleston (19-under 833) finished third with Florida (18-under 834) and North Texas (16-under 836) rounding out the top-five and finishing just ahead of the Trojans.

Little Rock will now have a couple weeks off before returning to action in Florida in mid-October. The Trojans will head to Vero Beach for the 2018 Quail Valley Collegiate, hosted by McNeese, being held October 14-16 at Quail Valley Golf Club.
