GolfStat.com.
Â
Tournament Field
Little Rock is one of 12 teams competing in the Maridoe Invitational against one of the toughest fields the Trojans will see in 2019-20. Three teams among the field were ranked in the preseason Golfweek Top-30, including No. 10 SMU, No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 30 Arkansas State. Little Rock is one of three Sun Belt teams heading to north Texas, joined by the Red Wolves and Louisiana.
Â
Trojan Lineup
The same five Trojans will return to Texas for the Maridoe Invitational but will have the order shuffled.
Logan Pate will play the number one position for Little Rock, coming off his 4-under 209 and tying for ninth at the Trinity Forest Invitational with
Aaron Ramos occupying the number two spot after tying for fourth with a 6-under 207.
Â
Last Time Out
Little Rock is coming off an impressive performance in north Texas two weeks ago with the Trojans placing fifth among the 17-team field at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. The Trojans notched a 6-under 846, the fifth-lowest 54 hole tournament tally in program history. Individually, it was a strong showing for both
Aaron Ramos and
Logan Pate, who tied for fourth and ninth, respectively. Ramos tied the fifth-lowest total in program history at 6-under 207, while Pate tied for the 12th-lowest at 4-under 209.
Â
Back to the Lone Star State
The tournament in Carrollton marks the third-straight trip to Texas for Little Rock, opening the year with back-to-back-to-back tournaments in the Lone Star state. The Trojans finished fifth in the first two Texas event – the UTSA Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio and the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas – and will make one more trip to Texas in 2019-20, competing in the Border Olympics in Laredo in March.
Â
Going Low
Through the first two events of the season, Little Rock has combined to record 10 individual rounds of par-or-better with three under par rounds as a team.
Aaron Ramos leads the way with four rounds of par-or-better, including a low round of 68, followed by three from
Logan Pate and a pair from
Anton Albers. Ramos and Pate have combined to register three rounds in the 60's with Ramos shooting a 69 and 68 in Dallas and Pate adding a 69.
Â
A Year for the Record Books
Little Rock's 2018-19 season is one that went down in the Trojan record books, setting a handful of program-bests. The team set a new season record with a 286.97 scoring average while setting new high water marks for birdies (481) and eagles (17) in a season. Little Rock also set new program-bests in scoring average for par three (3.098), par four (4.131) and par five (4.829) holes while its GolfStat ranking of 100 is the highest in program history since the 2003-04 season when it finished 97th.
Â
Looking Ahead
After this week's tournament, Little Rock closes out the fall portion of its schedule with the annual home event at Chenal Country Club. The Trojans will welcome 16 teams to central Arkansas for the 2019 Little Rock Invitational, being held Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22.
