BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock sophomore
Ed Featherstone has been named
Ohio Valley Conference Male Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday morning.
Featherstone, a native of
Sheringham, England, shares the honor with
Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell after an outstanding performance at this week's
Everett Buick GMC Classic.
Featherstone helped lead the
Trojans to the team title Tuesday at
Chenal Country Club, finishing
13-under par to place second — just one shot behind
UAB's Minas Manias.
"This is a great honor,"
Featherstone said. "What I was most happy with is that we won the tournament. We played very well as a team."
Featherstone has been a model of consistency throughout the fall, placing in the
top 20 in all but one event this season. He recently finished
12th at the Fighting Irish Invitational at
Notre Dame's Warren Golf Club, a tournament that featured several of the nation's top collegiate players. His best finish prior to this week came at the
Bearcat Invitational, where he placed
sixth.
"This was another solid week for Ed to cap off the fall season," said head coach
Austin Eoff. "He recorded four top-15 finishes, including a runner-up at our home event. It's only a matter of time before he gets his first collegiate win."
