CONWAY, Ark. – For the second-straight week, weather played a major part in Little Rock's track and field efforts, limiting the Trojans' participation in the UCA Open in Conway.
2019 UCA Open Final Results
Little Rock competed in a handful of events Friday evening at the Bill Stephens Track Complex, highlighted by
Ryan Amador winning the men's hammer throw at 43.14 meters. Amador would also finish third in the men's discus at 35.61 meters while
Nghia Dinh placed second in the men's long jump at 6.54 meters.
The Trojan women also notched a pair of fourth-place finishes in field events, including Bria Allen in the long jump (5.20 meters) and Sierra Towles in the javelin (27.89 meters).
The running events began Friday evening as well with the 5,000 meters, one which saw Vianney Sanchez (18:06.08) and Hunter Paul (19:35.28) finish second and fourth for the Little Rock women.
Rogelio Araiza also notched a time of 15:37.89, placing third for the Trojan men.
Saturday saw heavy showers and possible severe weather move into the central Arkansas area. Due to the less-than-ideal competition conditions, and concerns with traveling in the inclement weather, Little Rock opted to keep the remainder of its competitors home.
To make up for the weekend, Little Rock has announced a change to its outdoor track and field schedule. The Trojans will now take its full team to Jonesboro next weekend, competing in the Red Wolves Open Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at the A-State Track and Field Complex, the site of the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
