LITTLE ROCK – As the summer begins to wind down, a number of former Trojans continue to represent Little Rock professionally throughout minor league baseball. Here is a rundown of the seven Trojans currently competing across the country:
Troy Alexander – St. Paul Saints (American Association)
Alexander has appeared in 15 games for the Saints with eight hits in 39 plate appearances with a double and six RBI. St. Paul is currently second in the American Association North Division with a 60-35 record, one game back of first-place Fargo-Moorhead.
Donavin Buck – Burlington Royals (Appalachian League)
Buck has appeared in 15 games in a relief role for the Royals, pitching 26.1 innings with a 2.73 ERA and 25 strikeouts, earning his first professional win against Danville on August 10. Burlington finished second in the Applachian East League and begins the playoffs tomorrow night against first-place Pulaski.
Chandler Fidel – Cleveland Indians Blue (Arizona Rookie League)
Fidel has been solid in his rookie league debut, posting a 5-0 record for the Cleveland Indians Blue squad with a 5.33 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 27.0 innings of work. The team finished the rookie league season third in the Arizona League Central Division with a 16-12 record.
Justin Garcia – Hillsboro Hops (Northwest League)
In his second season with Hillsboro, Garcia has appeared in 23 games in relief for the Hops with a 2.84 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 31.2 innings, holding opponents to a .190 batting average. Hillsboro currently leads the Northwest League South Division with a 20-13 second half record and a 44-27 overall mark, the best in the league.
Cameron Knight – State College Spikes (New York-Penn League)
In his third season in the minor leagues, Knight has played in 17 games for the Spikes with seven hits in 50 plate appearances with three RBI and a pair of doubles. For his professional career, Knight has played in 68 total games with 38 hits, 13 RBI and six doubles as State College sits third in the New York-Penn Pinckney Division, three games out of first.
McKinley Moore – Great Falls Voyagers (Pioneer League)
Moore was recently called up to the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League after a successful opening season in the Arizona Rookie League. Pitching for the AZL White Sox, Moore saw action in 20 games, posting a 2-1 record and a 5.59 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched, striking out 17 as the White Sox posted a 22-34 overall mark.
Riley Pittman – Milwaukee Milkmen (American Association)
Pittman has been a constant in the Milkmen roster since being signed in July, playing in 40 games this season with 35 hits, six doubles and four home runs while driving in 12 and scoring 14 runs. Pittman is batting .245 in 143 plate appearances for Milwaukee which is 37-58 on the season.
