BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Little Rock freshman
Mia Dunning broke her own school record in the weight throw as action got underway at the Green and Gold Invitational hosted by UAB in Birmingham Friday evening.

The rookie thrower out of Green Bay, Wisconsin finished fourth overall and set a mark of 54-4.75 (16.58m) in the weight throw to break her own school record in the event. That topped her previous school record mark of 52-0.5 (15.86m), set last weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Dunning wasn't alone in making strides in the event as teammate
Alison Stephens registered a mark of 48-11 (14.91m), a throw that moves her into second all-time in school history.

The success in Birmingham wasn't limited to field events, either.
Shelby Dunlap posted a personal best time of 9.83 in the 60m hurdles, ranking her sixth in school history. And
Candace McGowan ran the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 600m invitational, posting a time of 1:44.60.

On the men's side,
Jarred O'Connor ran a personal-best time of 4:25.01 to finish fifth in the mile invitational, shaving five seconds off his previous fastest time, while Cody Wilson placed eighth with a mark of 4:38.14.

Dion Murombe jumped 44-11.75 (13.71m) to place third in the triple jump with a mark that ranks eighth in school history while
Jared Schneider jumped 43-1.5 (13.14m) to place fifth at the meet.

Action continues at the Green & Gold Invitational on Saturday with both running events and field events starting at 10 a.m.
