Three Things to Know
- It's Championship SZN
All the work throughout indoor season is leading up to the next few days as Little Rock will compete in the 2020 Sun Belt Indoor Championships. The Trojans will battle with 11 other teams (seven on the men's side) for both individual championship titles in each event as well as team titles for each gender.
- Sweet Home Alabama
And it does feel like home. This week's trip to Birmingham for the Sun Belt Indoor Championships marks the third of three trips to The Magic City for the Trojans. Initially, Little Rock headed there for a week of training in January then returned for the Green and Gold Invitational hosted by UAB in late January. Now the Trojans are headed back to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the third time this indoor season with all the bragging rights up for grabs.
- Which Trojans Will Reach the Podium?
Little Rock has a handful of student-athletes that are vying for conference supremacy in their respective events but which of those will reach the podium or even claim a gold medal? Elijah Wright (400m) led the league for most of the year but recently slipped to third in the performance list. Christian Matamoros currently ranks fourth in the high jump. On the women's side, Tricia Pierce ranks fourth in the pole vault. Both sides have 4x400m relays that could strike a fast time.
