LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Fresh off back-to-back men's titles and three straight runner-up finishes on the women's side, Little Rock Track and Field launches its indoor season Saturday at the Vanderbilt Commodore Challenge, setting the tone for another championship push.
Since joining the OVC in the summer of 2022, Little Rock has established itself as one of the league's most consistent programs. Both squads have remained among the conference's top contenders each season, with the men emerging as the current standard and the women building steady momentum.

Little Rock at the Vanderbilt Commodore Challenge
Little Rock's most recent indoor appearance at Vanderbilt came during the 2022–23 season, one of only three trips the program has made there in the past decade. The Trojans have historically performed well at the venue, highlighted by standout finishes from former Trojans
Troy McKnight, who won the 60 meters, and Gabby Ayiteyfio, who placed second in the high jump.
This year's meet features several major programs, including Tennessee and Kentucky, along with in-state rival Arkansas State and OVC foe Tennessee State.
Coach Speak
"Excited to have an opportunity to compete before the holiday break. Traditionally, we do really well at these December meets. We are not approaching this as a rust buster; rather, I'm expecting we will compete at a very high level and have several personal bests," head coach
J.P. Behnke said.
Team Report
The men will be led by returning junior
Devin Stevens, last year's 800m and DMR indoor conference champion. Stevens, one of the team's premier middle distance runners, will look to continue his conference champion run. Sophomore
Morcellous Harris, the OVC Most Outstanding Freshman, will also look to make an impact after excelling in both the heptathlon and decathlon.
On the women's side, senior twins
Takia Palmer and
Talia Palmer bring championship experience in the sprints as they help push the team toward a title run. Senior pole vaulter
Brooklyn Marcee, recently named an OVC Scholar-Athlete Award winner, has finished in the top two each of the past three seasons and aims to break through for a conference title in her final year.
The Trojans also welcome a large group of freshmen this season. Early standouts
Colter Maya,
Brianna Brinkley and
Leeah Boyd have impressed in training and are expected to contribute immediately.
