NORMAN, Okla. – Academic awards continue to roll in for Little Rock as senior
Danial Durisic and sophomores
Anton Albers and
Marcel Rauch have been named 2019-20 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.
The honor is the second of Durisic's Little Rock career and the first for both Albers and Rauch. Little Rock has now received 17 All-America Scholar honors since the 2009-19 season with Durisic joining Justin Warren, Matias Calderon, Linus Gillgren and Felipe Velaszquez as a two-time honoree during that span.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically at the Division I level. In addition, they participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Albers ranked second on the team in scoring average in 2019-20, posting a 74.76 mark after competing in all seven events for the Trojans. He notched three rounds of par-or-better with a low round of 70, tying for 18th at the Little Rock Invitational.
Durisic closed out his Trojan career with a 75.52 scoring average in 21 rounds in 2019-20, ranking second on the team with four rounds of par-or-better. He leaves Little Rock with a career scoring average of 74.62, ranking 13th in program history, and is set to begin a graduate assistantship at Illinois State this fall.
Rauch competed in all seven events for Little Rock in his sophomore campaign, notching a 75.67 scoring average with three rounds of par-or-better. He notched a pair of top-20 individual finishes, highlighted by tying for 11th at the Border Olympics with a season-low 216.
As a team, Little Rock ranked 67th in the GolfStat rankings following the fall season, its best showing in nearly 20 seasons. The Trojans finished among the top-10 in five of the first six tournaments on the year and had a team scoring average of 295.48 before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
