Trojan Lineup
Head coach
Jake Harrington will keep the same lineup the Trojans used to capture the Little Rock Invitational last week at Chenal, anchored by senior
Anton Albers and junior
Magnus Lomholt in the one and two positions.
Jansen Smith,
Marcel Rauch and
Archie Smith complete the Trojan scorecard with
Hunter Walker earning the nod as Little Rock's individual competitor following his performance at Chenal last week.
Repeat Champs
Little Rock defended its title at its annual home event, winning the 29th annual Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club on October 19. The Trojans posted a 6-under 282 over the final 18 holes to distance themselves from the field, finishing at 18-under 846 and winning the event by a commanding 17 strokes. The victory at Chenal marks Little Rock's 10th team title at its host event and the fourth since 2017.
Historic Win For Albers
Anton Albers also pulled away on day three at Chenal, shooting a 5-under 67 to capture the individual title, the third of his Trojan career. He finished with a 13-under 203, the second-lowest individual tournament score in program history and the lowest vs. par score, besting the 11-under 202 set by Justin Warren at the 2018 Trinity Forest Invitational. Albers becomes the sixth different Trojan golfer to win the individual title at Little Rock's annual event and the first since Zach Coats in 2017.
Albers Chalks Up Win Three
The victory for
Anton Albers at Chenal is the third individual tournament win, coming off finishing first at the Individual Spring Kickoff (Feb. 8, 2021) and the Trinity Forest Invitational (Mar. 7-9) in the spring. He is now tied with
Patrick Sullivan for the second-most individual wins in program history, one back of Daniel Fox's four from 1998-01.
Going Low
Through the first three events of the 2021-22 season, Little Rock has posted plenty of red numbers, including six of the first nine team rounds of the season. Individually, Trojan golfers have combined for 24 rounds of par-or-better, led by seven from
Magnus Lomholt and six each from
Anton Albers and
Jansen Smith. Albers has been under par in all six of his rounds thus far, with Lomholt doing it in 77.8% of his rounds (7-of-9) and Jansen in 66.7% (6-of-9). All six Trojans competing in the Bahamas this week have tallied at least one par-or-better round this season.
