Trojans Sit Second; Albers Fifth After Round Two in the Bahamas

Little Rock sits at 9-under through 36 holes

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Little Rock sits in second place following the second round of the Little Rock White Sands Bahamas Invitational at Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Trojans notched a 1-under 287 in round two and is at 9-under 567 through 36 holes, eight shots off the lead.

The effort for the Trojans was led by Anton Albers' 1-under 71 in round two as he is tied for fifth in the individual standings at 3-under 141. Albers finished the round with five birdies and 10 pars and was sitting at 3-under before a double on 18 gave him the 71.
 
Archie Smith had another solid round for Little Rock as well, finishing at even-par 72 and is tied for 15th in the individual standings with a 1-under 143. Smith carded three birdies and 13 pars in round two, shooting even on both the front and back nine.
 
Magnus Lomholt is tied for 22nd in the individual standings after 36 holes at even-par 144 behind his 1-over 73 in round two. Lomholt was even through 10 and posted four birdies and 10 pars on the afternoon to sit two shots better than Jansen Smith's 2-over 146. Smith was the third Trojan golfer to finish at par or better Saturday, carding a 1-under 71 behind his 1-under 35 on the back nine.
 
Marcel Rauch rounded out the Little Rock scorecard with a 7-over 79, despite shooting a 2-under 34 on the back nine with four birdies. Hunter Walker shot a 3-over 75 competing as an individual.
 
Entering the day atop the leaderboard, Little Rock was registering pars when it was scoring birdies in round one, and a surging Ole Miss squad overtook the Trojans for first. The Rebels shot a a 12-under 276 in round two to sit at 17-under 559, eight shots better than Little Rock.
 
The Trojans have some company in the team standings as they are three shots better than third-place San Francisco (6-under 570), four better than fourth-place South Florida (5-under 571) and six shots ahead of fifth-place East Tennessee State (3-under 573), all of which are ranked among the Golfstat Top-30.
 
The final round of the Little Rock White Sands Bahamas Invitational gets underway Sunday morning with a 7 a.m. CT tee time. The Trojans will play with Ole Miss and San Francisco in the final groupings, teeing off from holes one through three. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
