Albers, Smith Lead Trojans With 69s in Round Two of Trinity Forest

DALLAS – Anton Albers and Jansen Smith both sit at 2-under 140 as each carded a 2-under 69 on day one of the Trinity Forest Invitational, tied for eighth among the individual standings. The effort by Albers and Smith has Little Rock fifth among the 14-team field at 1-over 569, two shots out of third overall.

In round one, the Trojans posted a 1-over 285, led by even par performances by Albers, Smith and Magnus Lomholt and 1-over showings from both Marcel Rauch and Archie Smith. The 1-over 285 had the Trojans fifth among the field, two shots back of fifth-place Sam Houston and three back of fourth-place North Texas.
 
Round two saw Albers and Smith find their grooves as the duo each posted a 2-under 69. Albers came out strong out of the gate, carding birdies on four of the first five holes, sandwiching a bogey on hole two. He would then record pars on 12 of the next 13 holes, the only blemish a bogey on hole nine to give him the 2-under 69.
 
Smith was consistent through his second round, going 1-under on both the front and back nine with a pair of birdies offset by a bogey on each with six pars.
 
Marcel Rauch sits third on the Trojan scorecard at 2-over 144 following a pair of 1-over 72s, tied for 29th overall. Lomholt is tied for 34th with a 3-over 145 with a 3-over in round two while A. Smith is at 5-over 147 following his second round 75.
 
Little Rock enters Tuesday's final round one shot back of fourth-place North Texas, which carded an even-par 568 through the first 36 holes, and the Trojans are two shots behind third place Sam Houston following the Bearkats' 1-under 567. Host SMU holds the team lead at 16-under 552, followed by UT Arlington at 11-under 557.
 
Tuesday's final round will begin with tee times from holes one and 10 as the Trojans will get underway in the second flight off hole one, playing with North Texas and SMU's B team. Archie will get the Trojans underway with his 8:45 a.m. tee time, leading up to Albers getting underway at 9:21 a.m. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
