DALLAS, Texas – Jansen Smith continues the tradition of Little Rock golfers going low at Trinity Forest Golf Club, posting a 6-under 65 in round three of the Trinity Forest Invitational to finish tied for second with an 8-under 205. The effort led Little Rock to a 5-under 279 over the final 18 holes, jumping two spots to finish tied for third at 4-under 848.

Over the last three tournaments at Trinity Forest, Justin Warren carded a 64 in 2018,
Anton Albers posted a 64 during the event this past spring, setting up Smith's 65 over Tuesday's final round. His final 18 holes consisted of the six birdies and 12 pars with his 8-under 205 tied for the second-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history, matching Matias Calderon at the 2013 Jim West Intercollegiat, and three back of Warren's 11-under 202 in 2018.

Smith was joined in the top-10 by
Anton Albers, the reigning tournament champion, who had a solid tournament in his own right, finishing tied for 10th with a 3-under 210, including a 1-under 70 over the final 18 holes. Albers ended the Trinity Forest with three birdies and 13 pars in round three, blemished by just a pair of birdies in his season debut.

Magnus Lomholt tied for 29th among the individual field at 4-over 217, carding a 1-over 72 in round three.
Marcel Rauch and
Archie Smith rounded out the Little Rock scorecard as the duo was among a tie for 35th at 6-over 219, highlighted by Archie's 1-over 72.

J. Smith was among the tournament's best in par-four scoring, tying for third at 3-under with a 3.91 average, just ahead of Albers' 1-under. Jansen also was the top Trojan in both par-three (even-par) and par-five (5-under) scoring as Little Rock ranked second among the field in total pars (166) and third in total birdies (53).

Entering the day fifth among the 14-team field, Little Rock posted its low round of the season with the 5-under 279, the third-best round of the day. The effort was good enough to move the Trojans into a tie for third with Middle Tennessee, four shots back of second-place UT Arlington (8-under 844). Host SMU captured the team title with a dominating 26-under 826 performance.

With back-to-back top-five team finishes under its belt, Little Rock now prepares to serve as the host institution in back-to-back tournaments, beginning with the annual Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club. Â The Trojans will seek to defend their record-setting tournament title in 2020, hosting the event Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19.
