TULSA, Okla. – For thirty minutes, Little Rock went shot-for-shot with one of the nation's top 3-point shooting teams. But that momentum was halted in a cold fourth quarter where the Trojans were scoreless for over seven minutes in a 66-61 loss to Abilene Christian Saturday morning at the ORU Thanksgiving Classic in Tulsa.
Â
The loss, Little Rock's first since Nov. 9, witnessed just 14.3% shooting in the final period for the Trojans (4-2). That besmirched an otherwise impressive shooting day where Little Rock was 42% from the field (21-for-50) and had a 53% mark entering that final quarter.
Â
With a 56-49 lead entering the final frame, Little Rock was unable to stop a 14-0 run by Abilene Christian (4-1) that was mostly self-inflicted. ACU only made two field goals in the final period – one of which came from 3-point range – but the Wildcats made 12 free throws on 16 attempts over the final 10 minutes.
Â
Krystan Vornes led the Trojans with her second consecutive double-double, scoring 15 points and matching a career-high 16 rebounds while
Raziya Potter scored a game-high 16 points, including all five points for Little Rock in the final quarter. Vornes and Potter led all players with two blocks each.
Â
Amari Conn posted a career-high 11 points while hitting 3 of 4 shots from behind the 3-point line.
Â
Jamie Bonnarens led Abilene Christian with 16 points while Tatum Barber scored 13 and Kamryn Mraz added 12. The Wildcats, the sixth-leading 3-point shooting team in the country, made 11 baskets from 3-point range out of 20 made field goals overall.
Â
Little Rock returns to action Sunday in the final day of the ORU Thanksgiving Classic to face host Oral Roberts.
