LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – While the snowy conditions in the Little Rock metropolitan area may not make you believe it, the outdoor track and field season is less than a month away and Little Rock's upcoming outdoor slate has been confirmed.
Â
The Trojans will compete in seven regular season meets leading up to the 2021 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships on May 13-15 in Mobile, Alabama. Qualifying student-athletes will advance to the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on May 27-29 in College Station, Texas while the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Oregon on June 9-12.
Â
Before anyone can get through that point, however, Little Rock will be tested throughout a regular season schedule that features meets at Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) institutions and five of the seven meets held within the state of Arkansas.
Â
A weekday trip to Searcy on March 8-9 opens the schedule with the Harding Multis before Governor's I-40 Showdown rival Central Arkansas hosts the Richard Martin, Jr. Invitational in Conway on March 20.
Â
Little Rock will head to the Sunshine State on March 26-27 to compete at the Miami Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida before returning home to host the Little Rock Open on April 3. Then a quick trip to Fayetteville awaits the Trojans on April 9-10 for the John McDonnell Invitational.
Â
The Trojans will compete at Sun Belt rival Arkansas State in the Red Wolves Invitational on April 23-24 before rounding out the regular season at the Memphis Invitational on April 30 – May 1.
Â
The 2021 outdoor season will be the first for many of Little Rock's student-athletes as the 2020 outdoor season was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
