Albers Ties Program Record En Route To Second-Straight Title

Albers shot a 7-under 64 as Little Rock places third in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – For the second time in as many tournaments, Anton Albers has emerged as the individual champion, capturing the 2021 Trinity Forest Invitational. Albers shot a 7-under 64 over the final round, including a 25-foot putt on 18 to win the tournament, posting a 7-under 206 to earn medalist honors.

The effort by Albers helped Little Rock finish third among the 15-team field with a 17-over 869, including a 3-over 287 over the final 18 holes. It is the Trojans' third-straight top-three team finish as they have finished in the top-six in all four events this season.

The 64 by Albers ties the program record for the lowest individual hole, matching his career-best 64 from round two of the Little Rock Invitational back in October. It is also tied with current PGA Tour Australiasia member Justin Warren – who fittingly shot a 64 on the same course in 2018. His 206 is tied for the third-lowest round in program history and breaks his previous low of 207, set at the Seattle Redhawk Invitational in 2019.

Entering the day tied for fourth after back-to-back even-par 71s, Albers started off hot on the first nine holes, registering four birdies to go along with five pars to sit at 4-under at the turn. He proceeded to birdie 10, 14 and 16, then finished with a pair of pars to outlast SMU's Noah Goodwin, who bogeyed 18 to seal the title for Albers.

It is back-to-back tournament titles for Albers, who won the Individual Spring Kickoff on February 8 with a 1-under 141. He becomes the fourth player in program history to win multiple individual tournament titles, joining Daniel Fox (four), Alex Maynard (two) and Patrick Sullivan (two).

Albers was joined in the top-20 by Nico Horder, who finished tied for 15th overall with a 4-over 217 behind a 1-over 73 in round three. It is the second top-20 individual showing for Horder who also set a new personal tournament-best with his 217, one shot better than the 218 he posted at the Little Rock Invitational back in October.

Logan Pate tied for 35th overall at 10-over 223, shooting a 5-over 76 over the final round. Magnus Lomholt tied for 46th at 12-over 225 with Ryan McNelis rounding out the Trojan scorecard with a 16-over 229, placing 64th.

Entering the day in third place, Little Rock maintained its position with the 3-over 287, finishing two shots better than fourth-place TCU (19-over 871) and four ahead of fifth-place Sam Houston State (21-over 873). The Trojans were seven shots back of second place UT San Antonio's 10-over 862 as host SMU ran away with the team title with a 17-under 835.

Little Rock will return to Texas next week, heading to Austin for the George Hannon Intercollegiate. Hosted by the University of Texas, the event will be held at the Texas Golf Club and Academy March 15 and 16.
