EL DORADO, Ark. – Logan Pate sits second among the 60-player field as Little Rock is third following the opening day of competition at the Sun Belt Championship at Mystic Creek Golf Club. Little Rock shot a 10-over 298 over the opening 18 holes, sitting five shots off the team lead.
2021 Sun Belt Championship Round One Results
Pate was solid through the first round at Mystic Creek, recovering from a double bogey on hole one to shoot 3-under over the final 17 holes, finishing with a 1-under 71 in round one. After notching a 2-over 38 over the front nine, Pate went 3-under over the back nine and was one of only two players to finish under par.
Anton Albers joins Pate in the top-10 after day one, tied for ninth at 2-over 74 after going even through the front and 2-over on the back.
Magnus Lomholt is the third Trojan among the top-20, tied for 19th at 4-over 76.
Marcel Rauch sits just on the outside of the top-20 for Little Rock, posting a 5-over 77 to sit in a seven-way tie for 25th overall.
Nico Horder rounds out the Trojan scorecard at 13-over 85, tied for 55th among the individual standings.
Pate was the top player of the day on par-four holes, finishing at 3-under while Albers was at 1-under on the par-threes. Rauch and Lomholt were the top Trojan performers on the par-five holes through round one as both finished even.
Little Rock sits five shots back of day one leader Georgia Southern after the Eagles notched a 5-over 293 over the challenging course. ULM is second at 7-over 295, three shots ahead of the Trojans, with Arkansas State (14-over 302) fourth and Appalachian State and UT Arlington (17-over 305) tied for fifth.
The Trojans will once again be among the first group to tee off from hole one on Monday morning, playing with Georgia Southern and ULM in the number one group. Horder will tee off at 8:30 a.m., leading up to Pate's 9:06 a.m. tee time. Round two coverage will be available on ESPN+ with live scoring provided by GolfStat.com.
