Pate; Trojans Both Sit Atop Leaderboards After Day Two at Sun Belt Championship

Logan Pate and Little Rock both enter final round with two-stroke leads

EL DORADO, Ark. – Fifth year senior Logan Pate and Little Rock both sit atop the field following the second round of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship at Mystic Creek Golf Club behind a 13-over 301 on a challenging day.

Entering the day in third, Little Rock shot the low round of the day with the 301, jumping two spots to hold a two-stroke lead in first among the team standings at 23-over 599. The Trojans are two shots better than second-place Georgia Southern (25-over 601), eight better than third-place UT Arlington (31-over 607) and nine ahead of both Appalachian State and ULM (32-over 608), who are tied for fourth.
 
Individually, Pate holds a two shot lead among the individual leaders, posting a 2-over 74 over round two to sit at 1-over 145. Pate was even over the front nine and 2-over on the back, holding a two shot lead on three players at 3-over.
 
Pate is joined in the individual top-10 by Anton Albers, who is tied for seventh with a 5-over 149 following a 3-over 75 in round two. The duo has ranked among the tournament leaders on their various strengths with Pate sitting at 1-under on par-four holes, leading the field, while Albers is tied for first on par-fives at 2-under.
 
Nico Horder was the lone golfer among the field to finish under par on a challenging day two, carding a 1-under 71 to vault into a tie for 29th overall at 12-over 156. Horder came out firing on the front nine, sitting at 2-under with just one bogey, while going 1-over over the back nine as he sat 3-under through 10.
 
Magnus Lomholt added a 9-over 81 to sit tied for 36th overall at 13-over 157, followed by Marcel Rauch at 16-over 160 with an 11-over 83 on Monday, tied for 42nd.
 
Little Rock enters Tuesday final round of stroke play looking to secure a spot in Wednesday's match play as the top four finishers in stroke play advance to the championship. The Trojans will once again be among the first flight to tee off from hole one at 8:30 a.m., beginning with Rauch and leading up to Pate's 9:06 a.m. tee time.
