SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship, Little Rock is tied for 24th among the 30-team field after round one of competition at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale. The Trojans posted a 14-over 294 over the opening 18 holes, currently sitting six shots out of the coveted 15th spot.

Playing in the morning flight, the Trojans were among the second group in the morning wave to tee off, completing their round by around 2:00 p.m. and waiting to see how the rest of the field shook out. When the dust settled, Little Rock found itself in the tie for 24th with fifth-ranked Texas and sitting ahead of UAB, Liberty, East Tennessee State, San Francisco and NC State in the standings.
Individually, Little Rock was led in round one by a 1-over 71 from
Marcel Rauch, sitting tied for 44th among the 157-player field. Rauch was 2-over on the back nine, but was solid on the front with a 1-under 34. Rauch registered eight pars with a birdie on four to pace the Trojans in round one.
Logan Pate posted a 3-over 73 with a 1-over 36 on the back nine, followed by a 2-over 37 over the front, carding three birdies and 10 pars, sitting tied for 73rd.
Magnus Lomholt was a shot back with a 4-over 74, including a 1-over 36 on the front nine with six pars and a birdie.
Nico Horder and
Anton Albers both carded 6-over 76s in round one as Horder went 4-over 39 over the back nine with a 2-over 37 while Albers was 3-over on both the front and back.
Little Rock will look to make a charge on moving day, entering Saturday's second round one shot back of 23rd-place Vanderbilt (13-over 293) and two shots back of a four-team logjam consisting of San Diego, Tennessee, Georgia and TCU, all of which are tied for 19th at 12-over 292.
Texas Tech holds the team lead after day one with a 4-under 276, leading second-place Sam Houston (2-under 278) by two strokes. Pepperdine is third at 1-under with both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State at even-par 280, tied for fourth in the team standings.
Little Rock will be part of the second wave of competitors Saturday, teeing off at 3:20 p.m. CT (1:20 p.m. MST) and once again playing with East Tennessee State and San Diego. The Trojans will begin with Rauch, leading up to Albers at 4:04 p.m. CT with live scoring available at GolfStat.com.
