The Trojans once again drew the 1:20 p.m. MST (3:20 p.m. CT) tee time and battled the scorching Arizona heat, led by a 5-over 75 from
Logan Pate, who played his 120th and final round as a Trojan. Pate led little Rock with a 15-over 225, nearly sinking a birdie from the bunker on 18 and tapping in a two-inch gimmie to close out his Trojan career.
Anton Albers finished second with an 18-over 228, carding an 8-over 78 over round three. He finished one shot better than
Marcel Rauch's 19-over 229 as Rauch posted a 12-over 82 over the final 18 holes.
Nico Horder matched Albers with an 8-over 78 in round three and closed out the three rounds at Grayhawk with a 21-over 231.
Magnus Lomholt posted the second-lowest round of the day with a 6-over 76, finishing just behind Horder at 23-over 233.
Little Rock closed out its first-ever appearance in an NCAA Championship nine shots back of San Francisco (56-over 896) and 12 back of East Tennessee State (53-over 893). Playing with Liberty and the Dons in round three, the trio were the final grouping to finish, ending with pars on 18 from both Pate and Horder.
While the finish at Grayhawk was a disappointment, it caps a historic season for Little Rock, full of a number of program highlights. The Trojans finished in the top-five as a team in five tournaments on the year, including setting numerous program records en route to winning the 2020 Little Rock Invitational in October. The Trojans finished second at the Sun Belt Championship and fifth at the NCAA Stillwater Regional, earning the first NCAA Championship berth in program history.
Pate concludes his Little Rock career as the program's all-time leader in rounds played (120), seventh in career scoring average (73.73) and fourth in career par-or-better rounds (37). The lone senior on this year's squad, the Trojans are already setting their sights to 2021-22 and making a return trip to Scottsdale as the remainder of the Little Rock scorecard still have eligibility remaining.
