NEW ORLEANS – Little Rock golfers
Anton Albers and
Logan Pate have each earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors, announced today by the league office. Albers is a first team all-conference selection while Pate earned third team All-Sun Belt honors.
Albers was named first team on the heels of one of the top individual seasons in Little Rock program history. He currently boasts a 72.32 season scoring average, the fifth-lowest by a Trojan, with 10 rounds of par-or-better, including five in the 60s. He has finished in the top-20 of the individual rankings in seven of the eight tournaments on the year with four top-10 showings and a pair of individual tournament titles.
Albers was the individual champion at both the Individual Spring Kickoff and the Trinity Forest Invitational, shooting a combined 8-under in those two events. He finished under par in five tournaments and shot a low round of 64 twice, tied for the lowest individual round in program history. The Buccholz, Germany native is currently ranked the number three golfer in the Sun Belt by GolfStat as he boasts a career scoring average of 73.26, ranking third all-time.
Pate earns third team honors in a year in which he doubted he would even see following the cancellation of what was his senior season in 2020. Returning for his extra year of eligibility, Pate made the most of it by ranking second on the team with a 73.43 average and five rounds of par-or-better, including a career-low 66.
Pate has four top-10 finishes on the year, including tying for ninth at the Sun Belt Championship while tying for seventh at the Scenic City Collegiate. His five par-or-better rounds ranks third on the team as the Richmond, Texas native ranks tied for fifth in career rounds played (114), seventh in career scoring average (73.70) and fourth in career par-or-better rounds (37).
The honors for Albers and Pate bring the total number of Little Rock All-Sun Belt honorees to 33 honors across 20 different players, dating back to when the Trojans joined the league in the 1992-93 season.
Albers and Pate will see their seasons continue, along with the rest of the Trojans, as Little Rock was named the number nine seed in the NCAA Stillwater Regional. Little Rock will compete at Karsten Creek Golf Club May 17-19, 2021, with a spot at the NCAA Championships on the line.
