Little Rock Receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award For 2020-21

The honor is the fifth in the last six seasons for the Trojans

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock baseball has been recognized for its work in the classroom, earning 2020-21 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence honors. It marks the fifth time in the past six years under head coach Chris Curry the Trojans have received the national recognition.

To be eligible, teams had to post a team GPA of 3.0 or above for the entire 2020-21 academic year. Little Rock posted a 3.285 cumulative team grade point average during the academic season, finishing with a 3.370 in fall 2020 and a 3.196 during the spring semester.
 
72.2% of Little Rock's roster finished the spring competition season with a GPA of 3.00, coming off a fall semester which saw 83.3% of Trojans finishing at a 3.00 or higher and eight perfect 4.00 performances. As a team, Little Rock boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.295.

The Trojans closed the 2021 season at 11-13 in Sun Belt play, highlighted by Hayden Arnold being named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year. Little Rock notched a handful of key wins during the 2021 campaign, including a road win at Auburn and series victories against Southern Illinois, South Alabama and Louisiana.
 
Little Rock was one of 94 Division I teams to earn the Academic Excellence honor and one of two Sun Belt teams to receive the recognition, joined by Arkansas State. With the honor, the Trojans have now had six of their athletic programs recognized by respective national organizations for academic success as baseball joins men's and women's golf, swimming and diving, soccer and volleyball.
