LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock Director of Athletics
George Lee has announced three-year contract extensions for both Director of Golf
Jake Harrington and Head Women's Golf Coach
Jenna Wylie, keeping the duo as part of the Trojan golf program through the 2023-24 seasons.
"I'm pleased with the efforts and dedication that both Jake and Jenna have put into our golf teams and the results that have come from their leadership," Lee said. "I'm optimistic about the future of our golf programs here in Little Rock and look forward to continued success both on and off the golf course."
Both the Little Rock men's and women's golf teams are coming off strong 2020-21 seasons, including the men's team reaching the 2021 NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona, after finishing second at the Sun Belt Championships and fifth at the NCAA Stillwater Regional. Little Rock finished the season ranked 43rd in the GolfStat rankings, the highest national ranking in program history.
Under Harrington's guidance, the Trojans ended the year with five top-five team finishes in nine events, including capturing the 2020 Little Rock Golf Classic in record-setting fashion. Four of the top-five team scoring averages have come since Harrington was hired in 2013 as the Trojans have registered six tournament titles during his tenure.
On the women's side, Little Rock continues to make strides in the two years since Wylie took over the program. The Trojan women finished the season ranked 135th in the GolfStat final rankings, its best mark since 2016 and an improvement of nearly 70 spots since Wylie was named head coach in 2019.
Little Rock ended the 2020-21 season with nine top-10 team finishes, highlighted by a strong spring which saw the Trojans finish in the top-four in three-straight events, including capturing the Oral Roberts Spring Invitational for the program's first tournament win since 2016. Little Rock placed seventh at the Sun Belt Championship, ending the year with the fourth-best scoring average in program history.
Little Rock's golf programs have also earned a reputation as one of the strongest in the nation in the classroom as well. The Trojan women have posted the fifth-best team GPA nationally in each of Wylie's two seasons with five members of the team being named WGCA All-America Scholars in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. Additionally, Little Rock was recognized by Helper Helper for recording the most community service hours among Division I women's golf programs for the 2020-21 season.
On the men's side, Little Rock earned GCAA President's Special Recognition Honors for the 2020-21 season, recognizing teams with a 3.50 GPA or higher. The Trojans were the only Sun Belt school on the list and were one of just two NCAA qualifiers to earn the distinction. Little Rock also had four golfers named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars, bringing the total to 16 honors since Harrington took over the program.
