Little Rock Tied For Second After Round One at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

Trojans post a 3-under 285, one shot off the team lead

CHOUDRANT, La. – Little Rock posted a 3-under 285 over the opening round of the 2021 Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, sitting tied for second among the 21-team field after 18 holes. The Trojans are one shot off the team lead heading into Monday's second round at Squire Creek Country Club.

The Trojans have three players among the individual top-20 after round one, led by freshman Archie Smith and junior Magnus Lomholt tied for eighth following opening round 2-under 70s. Smith went 1-under on both the front and back nines, finishing with six birdies and eight pars, while Lomholt notched four birdies and 12 pars in round one.
 
Senior Marcel Rauch is one shot back of the duo, tied for 17th individually at 1-under 71. Rauch went 1-under through the back nine before finishing even over the final nine holes, tallying five birdies and nine pars.
 
Junior Jansen Smith posted a 2-over 74 in his first round as a Trojan, tied for 54th overall, while junior Nico Horder added a 3-over 75. Sophomore Ryan McNelis posted a 6-over 78 competing as an individual.
 
Little Rock was efficient on the par-fives throughout round one, finishing 8-under as a team and tied for third among the field. Rauch, Archie Smith and Lomholt all went 3-under on par-fives with McNelis shooting 2-under. Archie and Rauch were the Trojans' top performers on par-fours, finishing even par, with Horder leading the charge on par-threes at 2-under and Lomholt shooting 1-under.
 
Entering Monday's second round, Little Rock is in a three-way tie with LSU and Southern Miss at 3-under as the trio is one shot back of Houston (4-under 284) atop the team leaderboard. Troy and Louisiana Tech are tied for fifth at 2-under 286, one shot back of the Trojans, Tigers and Golden Eagles.
 
Little Rock will be among the final grouping to tee off in Monday's round two, getting underway at 11:40 a.m. off hole one and playing with Southern Miss, LSU and Houston.
