NEW ORLEANS, La. – Little Rock junior
Magnus Lomholt has been named the Sun Belt Golfer of the Week following his performance at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate over the weekend.
Â
Lomholt finished third among the 119-player field with an 8-under 208, tying the ninth-lowest tournament score in program history. Lomholt opened the event with a 2-under 70 in round one, followed by a career-low 4-under 68 in round two before finising with a 2-under 70 in round three.
Â
Lomholt ended the season-opening event with 38 pars, tied for fifth among the field, and 12 birdies, ranking tied for third among all players on both par three (1-under) and par-four (2-under) holes. His 208 was two shots better than his previous-best of 210 at last year's Little Rock Invitational where he tied for fourth in the individual standings.
Â
The 8-under 208 is tied for the third-lowest vs. par tournament in program history behind the 11-under performances by Justin Warren in 2018 and Matias Calderon in 2013. It is tied with Daniel Fox's 8-under 208 at the ULM Intercollegiate back in 2001. The effort by Lomholt paced the Trojans to a fifth-place finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, finishing with a 2-under 282.
Â
For his career, the Asnaes, Denmark native has now posted 10 rounds of par-or-better with a career scoring average of 73.87 in 10 career tournaments as a Trojan. The third-place showing was the second top-10 finish of Lomholt's career and his fifth top-20 individual showing.
Â
Lomholt and the rest of the Trojans return to action October 4-6, traveling to Texas for the 2021 Trinity Forest Intercollegiate in Dallas.
