TROY, Ala. – With six seconds and trailing by just two, Troy's Jasmine Robinson raced down the court and shot up a last-second chance for a tie and to send the game into overtime. That shot went straight into the outstretched arms of
Dariel Johnson and secured the 68-66 win for Little Rock.
That registered Johnson's third block of the game – a season high – which came alongside a career-high 14 points while
Raziya Potter dropped a career-high 24 points as Little Rock (7-6, 2-1 Sun Belt) claimed a win in its last trip to Troy. Meanwhile Troy (13-7, 4-2) fell from the top of the Sun Belt standings as they lost for the second time in three games.
It was more than just a block and a pair of career-highs to propel Little Rock to the win, however. Little Rock trailing 45-40 entering the fourth quarter and outscored Troy 28-21 over the final frame. Johnson and
Tia Harvey each scored seven points in that quarter, hitting key shots in the clutch. Harvey was making her first appearance in a game since Dec. 1 having finally recovered from an ankle injury and finished with 11 points.
And they rarely missed. Both players were 3-for-4 in the fourth period while Little Rock shot 76.9 percent in the fourth quarter and forced five Troy turnovers in the final minutes.
Mayra Caicedo dished out nine assists as Little Rock posted an 18-13 assist-to-turnover ratio while forcing 20 turnovers out of Troy, scoring 23 points off those turnovers.
That capped off a high-scoring second half, one that was the complete opposite of its predecessor. Little Rock out-scored Troy, 48-40, in the second half after the two teams scored a combined 46 points in the first half.
Troy dropped its first game at home to Little Rock since 2017 and fell to 8-20 all-time against Little Rock's Team.
Troy was led by Robinson's 16 points but seven of those came from the free throw line. She ended the night 4 of 10 from the field, with the last of her 10 shots going straight into Johnson's block.
Little Rock returns to action on Saturday at South Alabama. Tip-off time in Mobile is set for 3 p.m. and the game will air live on ESPN+.
