Five Things to Know
- Familiar Surroundings – Part I
If there is one person familiar with Mobile and the Mitchell Center, it is Little Rock Assistant Coach Bobby Brasel. Brasel spent 2006-2013 in Mobile as the Jaguars consistently had one of the best defenses in the Sun Belt. South Alabama led the league in scoring defense four times during that stretch and remained among the top programs in the Sun Belt in a number of other defensive categories.
- A First for the Season
With a 68-66 win on Jan. 20 at Troy, Little Rock recorded a first for the season. That marked the first time this season Little Rock had rallied back from a halftime deficit for a win. Little Rock trailed 26-20 at halftime and trailed 45-40 through three quarters before out-scoring Troy, 28-21, in the final frame.
- Familiar Surroundings – Part II
The last time Little Rock made a trip to the Mitchell Center, the Trojans came away with a milestone win. The 69-58 win over South Alabama on Feb. 22, 2020 marked Joe Foley's 800th career win.
- Fond Memories
Little Rock enters Saturday's game looking to end its trips to the Mitchell Center in familiar fashion. The Trojans have won six consecutive games at the Mitchell Center in Mobile as well as eight of the last nine meetings in Mobile.
- Familiar Surroundings – Part III
When Little Rock makes its trip to Troy and South Alabama this week, the Maroon and Silver will be in a familiar setting although the same can't exactly be said for the other side. That is because over the last decade Little Rock has been forced to travel to Troy and South Alabama in three separate seasons without a return trip from Troy or USA. In fact, this year's meeting will be the fourth time that scheduling occurrence has happened. But the number of times Troy and South Alabama have visited Little Rock without a return? Zero. All other seasons saw the teams play a home-and-home schedule.
