Trojans Finish Fourth at Purdue Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Little Rock closed out its time in Indiana with a fourth-place showing at the Purdue Fall Invitational. The Trojans notched a 13-over 301 over the final 18 holes to finish at 17-over 881, placing fourth among the 15-team field.

Little Rock had a pair of players finish among the individual top-20, led by Jansen Smith tying for ninth with a 2-over 218. Smith registered a 5-over 77 over the final 18 holes and was the top Little Rock finisher in par-four holes, registering a 3-over.
 
Matteo Cristoni tied for 16th at 5-over 221, including a 6-over 78 in round three. He led the team in par three holes at 1-over and was four shots better than Anton Albers' 9-over 225, tying for 33rd with a final round 6-over 78. Albers was at his best on the par-five holes, tied for the tournament lead at 5-under and adding a team-best 11 birdies.
 
Archie Smith registered the best round of the day for the Trojans with a 2-under 70, moving up 26 spots into a tie for 38th at 10-over 226. Nico Horder rounded out the Little Rock scorecard with a 14-over 230 while Louis Talarczyk finished tied for 18th in the neighboring individual tournament with a 5-over 221, shooting a 4-over 75 over the final 18 holes.
 
Entering the day in fourth, Little Rock maintained its position and bested fifth-place Nebraska (19-over 883) by two strokes. The Trojans finished six shots back of host Purdue (11-over 875) in third as Tennessee captured the team title at 8-under 856, 12 shots better than second-place LSU's 4-over 868.
 
With four tournaments in the books in the fall, Little Rock has registered its fourth-straight top-four finish. In head-to-head competition, the Trojans improved to 47-4-1 against the opposition this season.
 
Little Rock gets set to complete its busy fall season with the annual Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club. The Trojans welcome 15 teams to central Arkansas for the two-day event, being held Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18.
