Little Rock Ranked 30th In First GolfStat Rankings of 2022-23

Trojans have a pair of tournament wins and a runner-up showing

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock is ranked number 30 nationally in the first GolfStat team rankings of 2022-23, released this week. The Trojans' number 30 ranking currently sits as the best in program history, ahead of the number 43 final ranking in each of the last two seasons.
 
The Trojans have had a strong start to the 2022-23 season, notching a pair of team tournament titles and a runner-up finish. Little Rock won both the Olympic Club Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13)  and the Trinity Forest Invitational (Oct. 2-4) while tying for second at the Windon Memorial Classic (Sept. 26-27). Adding in the fourth-place finish at this week's Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 10-11), the Trojans have a head-to-head record of 46-4-1 through four events.
 
As a team, Little Rock has posted a team scoring average of 283.83 with 30 individual rounds of par-or-better. A pair of individuals are also ranked among the top-100 with Matteo Cristoni checking in at number 69 (70.33 average) and Jansen Smith at number 78 (70.42). The duo are the highest rated golfers in the Ohio Valley Conference and have combined for a pair of OVC Golfer of the Week honors with a combined 15 rounds of par-or-better and 11 rounds in the 60s.
 
Little Rock is the highest rated OVC team, followed by Tennessee Tech at number 138. The Trojans are also the highest-rated team in the Natural State, followed by Arkansas at number 38 and Arkansas State at number 93.
 
Little Rock closes out its busy fall season with the annual Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club on Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18. The Trojans welcome 15 teams to central Arkansas for the two-day event as Little Rock seeks a three-peat team title at its yearly host event.
