LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team is rested and ready to compete at the Kansas Classic this weekend, a three-day mid-season invitational with both prelims and finals sessions in the championship meet format. The Trojans will face off against Big 12 and Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) swimmers in one of their biggest competitions of the year.
Prelims will kick off a 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 9 a.m. start on Sunday. Finals will begin at 6 p.m. the first two days, with the last session kicking off at 2:30 p.m. on the final day. Fans can follow along with the action live by downloading the MeetMobile app, as there will be no live video feed.
"We like to look at the Kansas Classic as our midterm exam of the season," explained head coach
Amy Burgess. "This group of student athletes is most determined team we have had, and standing up against strong competition only fuels their fire. We are looking forward to going against some MVC and Big 12 competition. As we continue to raise the bar, this amazing group of athletes keeps pushing it higher. Look out for some Trojans on the war path!"
Last year, Little Rock had an explosive showcase at the Kansas Classic, taking home school records in four events. The Trojans won the 400 freestyle relay by nearly a second with a school record, also collecting program bests in the 200 medley, 200 freestyle relay, and 100 freestyle. The invite was a great glimpse of the team ahead of the MVC Championships this past year, where Little Rock lowered all of those records even more.

This year, Trojans will be racing against Iowa State, North Texas, hosts Kansas, and conference opponents Northern Iowa and Indiana State. Little Rock had a taste of MVC racing earlier this season, taking on Evansville, Missouri State, and Southern Illinois at the MVC Showcase, and will be excited for a rested performance
against the fifth and sixth place preseason picks, Indiana State and Northern Iowa, respectively.
