HENDERSON, Nev. – Led by a 6-under 66 from
Anton Albers, Little Rock is tied for second after the opening round of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate at Reflection Bay Golf Club. The Trojans posted a 7-under 281 in round one, tied with West Virginia and five shots back of team-leader St. Mary's.

Albers, the nation's 35th-ranked player, continued his blazing pace to the season with his season-low 6-under 66, his 10th-straight under-par round of the year and his fourth round in the 60s. Albers finished with seven birdies and 10 pars with his lone blemish a bogey on number eight as he went 6-under over the final 10 holes to sit in third place individually.
He is joined in the individual top-20 by
Jansen Smith, who fired a 2-under 70 for his seventh round of par-or-better this season. Smith was at 3-under through the front nine and had seven birdies on the day, but a double on 13 and bogeys on 2, 16 and 17 pushed him to the 70 as he is tied for 12th individually.
Magnus Lomholt, ranked 67th in the latest GolfStat rankings, shot an even-par 72 in round one with three birdies and 12 pars and is tied for 24th.
Marcel Rauch posted a 1-over 73 and
Nico Horder carded a 2-over 74 to round out the Trojan scorecard while freshman
Archie Smith had solid round competing as an individual, sitting at 5-under through 13 before finishing at 2-under 70, tied for 12th individually.
Little Rock enters Tuesday's second round even with the Mountaineers and five shots back of St. Mary's, which notched a 12-under 276 in round one. Little Rock and West Virginia are five shots better than fourth-place UAB (2-under 286) and six shots ahead of fifth-place Kansas City (1-under 287).
The Trojans will look to make their move Tuesday in round two of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, playing with St. Mary's and West Virginia in the second round grouping. Live scoring is available at
