LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Azaria Robinson took advantage of a cold shooting night by both teams and broke a 41-year old Little Rock record as she hauled in 22 total rebounds in the Trojans' 56-49 win over Philander Smith Tuesday evening.
Â
Robinson's haul tops the 21 rebounds Kay Gathright grabbed on two separate occasions during the 1980-81 season – first against the College (now University) of the Ozarks and then against Philander Smith. She finished with her first career double-double as she led Little Rock (11-8) with 15 points. She grabbed 11 on the offensive side and 11 on the defensive boards.
Â
Â
Dariel Johnson had a notable performance herself, pouring in 10 points and 16 rebounds as she claimed her second career double-double and third consecutive game scoring in double figures. She also registered three blocks, totaling eight blocks for the senior over the past two games.
Raziya Potter added 12 points.
Â
The combined effort by Robinson and Johnson led a season-high 52 rebounds for the Trojans as Philander Smith (19-6) hit just 20 of 57 shot attempts (35.1%) in the game. Rakia Lane led all players with 20 points for the Panthers while De'Vena Smith scored 11.
Â
Little Rock continues its unexpected three-game homestand on Saturday when the Trojans host Arkansas State at 2 p.m. Saturday's contest marks Homecoming for the university.
