Nine of the 16 teams are among the latest GolfStat Top-100, including the Trojans, who check in a number 41. Â
Trojan Lineup
Head coach
Jake Harrington will head to Louisiana sporting his usual five on the scorecard, led by reigning Sun Belt Golfer of the Week
Anton Albers in the number one position.
Magnus Lomholt will play at the number two spot, followed by
Jansen Smith,
Marcel Rauch and
Archie Smith.
Â
Last Time Out
Little Rock concluded its busy week by tying for the team championship at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona with a 13-over 877. Originally tying for second, a scoring error for Michigan adjusted its final tally, elevating Little Rock and UAB into a three-way tie for the team title. The Trojans had three players among the individual top-20, led by junior
Magnus Lomholt tying for second with a 1-under 215 for his fourth top-10 showing of the season. Senior
Anton Albers tied for eighth at 1-over 217, including an opening round 68, while
Nico Horder tied for 20th competing as an individual at 6-over 222.
Â
Golfers of the Week
Little Rock has claimed four Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors this season with
Magnus Lomholt and
Anton Albers each claiming a pair. Lomholt earned the weekly accolade on September 16 and November 11 while Albers was tabbed the league's top performer on October 28 and March 4. The Trojans have claimed four of the league's seven weekly honors in 2021-22 as the duo has combined for nine top-10 individual finishes and 26 rounds of par-or-better.
Â
Going Low
Little Rock golfers have combined for 50 rounds of par-or-better this season with 18 rounds in the 60s.
Anton Albers and
Magnus Lomholt have each registered 13 par-or-better rounds as Albers finished under par in his first 13 rounds of the year, shooting in the 60s seven times. Lomholt and
Jansen Smith have each posted four rounds in the 60s with
Marcel Rauch carding a pair. As a team, Little Rock has finished at par-or-better in 13 of the 18 rounds on the year.
Â
National Attention
Heading into this week's event in Louisiana, Little Rock boasts a pair of top-100 golfers nationally.
Anton Albers is currently ranked 21st nationally and is second in the Sun Belt behind Georgia Southern's Ben Carr, which is currently the lowest individual ranking in program history since Daniel Fox's number 20 ranking in 2000-01. Albers is also listed as the number nine-ranked golfer in the latest GolfStat Cup standings, given to the men's and women's golfer with the lowest adjusted scoring average across college golf.
Magnus Lomholt heads to Louisiana ranked 91st nationally, which would rank seventh in program history.
Â
Record Watch
With the spring season in full swing, Little Rock has a number of program records in its sights. Through six events this season, the Trojans boast a team scoring average of 285.06, which is nearly two strokes lower than the program record of 286.97 set in 2018-19. Individually,
Anton Albers has a 69.67 scoring average, while
Magnus Lomholt currently sits at 70.72, which are both below the program-record of 71.41, set by Justin Warren in 2018-19. The duo's 13 par-or-better rounds on the year already are tied for 10th all-time and within Daniel Fox's program record of 22, set in 2000-01.
Â
Road Warriors
This week's event in Louisiana continues a challenging spring schedule which will see the Trojans compete in six events in six different states. It is the third tournament in 14 days for the Trojans, notching runner-up finishes in both Nevada and Arizona last week, as Little Rock's travels take it to California and Texas before the Sun Belt Championship in El Dorado in late April.
