LAFAYETTE, La. – Little Rock sits seventh among the 17-team field after the opening two rounds of the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club. The Trojans sit at 1-under 575 after 36 holes, sitting six shots out of the top-five heading into Tuesday's final round.
2022 Louisiana Classics Day One Results
The Trojans opened the day with a 7-under 281 in round one, sitting fourth among the team standings. That effort was led by Jansen Smith's 4-under 68, marking his 11th round of par-or-better and fifth round in the 60s, sitting tied for fifth among the individual standings
Magnus Lomholt posted a 2-under 70, his 14th round of par-or-better, followed by a 1-under 71 from Archie Smith. Anton Albers and Marcel Rauch both shot even-par 72s through the opening 18 holes, pacing the Trojans to the 7-under.
Round two proved to be more challenging as Little Rock notched a 6-over 294, slipping three spots to seventh with the 1-under 575. Lomholt was the lone Trojan to finish even par, notching a 72 to sit tied for 20th at 2-under 142.
Jansen Smith carded a 1-over 73, slipping down into a tie for 18th individually with a 3-under 141, one shot better than Lomholt. Rauch's 2-over 74 pulled him even with Archie Smith at 2-over 146 while Albers shot a 5-over 77, sitting tied for 58th at 7-over 149.
Heading into Tuesday's final round, Little Rock holds a three shot lead on both UT San Antonio and Illinois State (2-over 578) in a tie for eighth, four shots back of sixth-place Ole Miss (5-under 571) and six back of fifth-place Houston (7-under 569).
Texas A&M holds a commanding team lead at 34-under 542, 15 shots better than second-place LSU's 19-under 557. North Texas (15-under 561) is third followed by Kansas State (8-under 568) and the Cougars to round out the top-five.
Tuesday's final 18 holes gets underway with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. as the Trojans will be among the first wave to tee off from hole one. Albers gets things going for Little Rock, leading up to Jansen's 8:06 tee time as the Trojans will play with Illinois State and UT San Antonio in the final round pairings.
