Opening Tee
Little Rock gets set to play its second tournament in a week, making the trip from Henderson, Nevada to Scottsdale, Arizona for the 2022 Desert Mountain Collegiate, being held Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6.
Â
Tournament Information
The 2022 Desert Mountain Collegiate will be held Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 at the Outlaw Course of Desert Mountain Country Club – a par-72, 7,107-yard course in Scottsdale, Arizona. Hosted by Michigan, the tournament will be 54 holes, beginning with two rounds on Saturday before Sunday's final round. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
Â
Tournament Field
Little Rock is one of 15 teams competing in Scottsdale this week and is one of four Sun Belt schools, joined by Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina and ULM. The Trojans enter the tournament as the number two rated team in the latest GolfStat rankings at number 44 nationally, behind only 38th-ranked UAB. Mississippi State (No. 48), Arkansas State (No. 97) and ULM (No. 100) are all among the top-100 in the latest rankings.
Â
Trojan Lineup
Little Rock will use primarily the same lineup as it did earlier this week at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, led by
Anton Albers and his team-best 69.00 scoring average.
Jansen Smith will be the number two player, followed by
Magnus Lomholt,
Archie Smith and
Marcel Rauch with
Nico Horder competing as an individual.
Â
Last Time Out
Anton Albers and Little Rock both notched runner-up finishes at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate in Henderson, Nevada, setting a number of marks in the Trojan record book in the process. Little Rock shot a 12-under 276 in round three, tying for the seventh-lowest round in program history, while the 17-under 847 is tied for the eighth-lowest tournament total. Albers posted a 13-under 203, one off the program record for an individual tournament, while shooting a pair of rounds in the 60s to extend his streak of consecutive rounds under par to 12-straight.
Â
Trojans at Desert Mountain
Little Rock returns to Desert Mountain for the first time since the 2019-20 season, which was the final event played before the cancellation of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Little Rock tied for 11th at that year's event with a 45-over 909, led by
Logan Pate tying for 17th with a 6-over 222, including an even-par 72 in the final round.
Anton Albers posted an 11-over 227 in his lone trip to the course.

Albers Repeats As Sun Belt Golfer of the Week
Senior
Anton Albers was named the Sun Belt Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, finishing second with a 13-under 203. Albers currently sits as the number 44 golfer in the nation by GolfStat, second in the Sun Belt, as all 12 of his rounds have been under par this season. It was his second Golfer of the Week accolade this year, joining teammate
Magnus Lomholt, as Little Rock has combined to win four of the seven weekly honors this season.
Â
Jansen Coming On
Jansen Smith joined
Anton Albers among the individual top-five in Nevada, sitting in sole possession of fifth-place with an 8-under 208. Smith posted a pair of 3-under 69s over rounds two and three for his second top-five individual finish of the season as the 208 is tied for the 13th-lowest tournament in program history. He ranks third on the team with a 71.27 scoring average and 10 rounds of par-or-better.
Â
Archie Gets Noticed
Freshman
Archie Smith competed as an individual earlier this week at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate but raised some eyebrows, shooting a 3-under 213 and sitting in sole possession of 15th for his first career top-20 finish. Smith tied his career low with a 2-under 70 in round three, earning his spot among the Trojan scorecard for this week's event.
Â
Going Low
Little Rock has put together a solid combined team effort this season, finishing under par in all five events, including the 17-under 847 earlier this week in Nevada. The Trojans enter the weekend with a team scoring average of 283.60, which currently would rank tops in program history. The 2018-19 team holds the distinction of having the lowest scoring average at 286.97 with this year's Little Rock team combining for 45 individual rounds of par-or-better.
Â
Road Warriors
This week's event in Arizona continues a challenging spring schedule which will see the Trojans compete in six events in six different states. It is the first of two events in the same week, coming off the runner-up showing at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate earlier in the week, competing in Louisiana, California and Texas before the Sun Belt Championship in El Dorado in late April.
