Albers, Trojans Place Eighth at Aggie Invitational

Little Rock finishes five shots out of a tie for fourth

BRYAN, Texas – Anton Albers and Nico Horder finished among the individual top-20 as Little Rock placed eighth at the 2022 Aggie Invitational at the Traditions Course. The Trojans closed out the event at 52-over 916, including a final round 19-over 307.

Albers tied for eighth among the 75-player field with a 7-over 223, including a team-best 1-over 73 over the final 18 holes. The 73 was tied for the low round of the day among all competitors as Albers was the top performer among the field on par-four holes, finishing at even-par. It is the seventh top-10 showing in eight tournament this year for Albers as he boasts a season scoring average of 70.42.
 
Horder notched his second top-20 showing of the year tying for 19th overall with a 12-over 228, tying for 19th. Horder closed out round two with a 6-over 78 and carded a 4-over 76 in round three, ranking second on the team and tied for eighth among the field in par-three scoring at 2-over. Horder was also the top Trojan on par-five holes, tying for seventh at 2-under.
 
Magnus Lomholt tied for 37th with an 18-over 234, closing out round two with a 5-over 77 before notching a 7-over 79 in round three. Lomholt led the Trojans with a 1-over in par-three scoring, tied for second among the field.
 
Marcel Rauch tied for 48th overall with a 20-over 236 with Jansen Smith rounding out the scorecard at 21-over 237, tying for 52nd. Archie Smith posted a 28-over 244 competing as an individual.
 
After darkness suspended play with three Trojans still on the course Saturday evening, Little Rock finished round two early Sunday morning, posting an 18-over 306 and sitting eighth among the field after 36 holes. Little Rock then went straight into round three and carded the 19-over 307, maintaining its position and finishing two shots back of both Louisville and North Texas (50-over 914) in sixth.
 
Host Texas A&M won the team title with a 23-over 887, besting second-place Arkansas (31-over 895) by eight shots. Texas Tech (34-over 898) finished third with Houston and New Mexico tying for fourth at 47-over 911, finishing five shots better than the Trojans.
 
With the conclusion of the Aggie Invitational, Little Rock now sets its sights on its final Sun Belt Championship as the Trojans look to build on last year's runner-up finish. The 2022 conference meet will be held April 24-27 at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado.
