Anton Albers Captures CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District Honors

Albers was one of three Sun Belt players to earn At-Large accolades

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock senior golfer Anton Albers has been named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District selection in the Men's At-Large category.

Albers, the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Year, closed out his record-setting 2021-22 season with a 70.97 scoring average, becoming the tops in program history and besting the previous mark of 71.41, set by Justin Warren in 2018-19. Albers closed the regular season as the number one ranked golfer in the Sun Belt, sitting number 32 in the GolfStat national rankings.

Albers closed out his senior season with 20 rounds of par-or-better in 30 rounds played, including 10 rounds in the 60s. He shot a program-record 64 on a pair of occasions, while his 8-under 202 at the Goodwin is tied for the lowest individual mark in program history. He registered top-10 finishes in eight of his 10 events, including winning the Little Rock Invitational and notching runner-up showings at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate and the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

The Buccholz, Germany native boasts a 3.96 GPA, majoring in finance, as he boasts a career scoring average of 72.59, currently second in program history, with 45 rounds of par-or-better and 13 individual top-10 tournament finishes. Albers was recently named Little Rock's Male Academic Player of the Year.

The At-Large team is one of the most challenging to earn a spot on the team as it is comprised of over a dozen sports. Albers is one of three Sun Belt players to be named an Academic All-District At-Large selection, joining tennis players Sabastien Collard of South Alabama and Niccolo Rossi of Coastal Carolina, as he becomes the second Trojan in as many years to earn All-District At-Large honors, joining wrestling's Paul Bianchi in 2021.

Albers now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot as the first, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-June.
