Anton Albers Repeats as PING All-Region Selection

Albers becomes the first player in program history to earn back-to-back All-Region honors

NORMAN, Okla. – For the second-straight year, Little Rock golfer Anton Albers has been named a Division I PING All-Region honoree, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Albers, the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Year, closed out his record-setting 2021-22 season with a 70.97 scoring average, becoming the tops in program history and besting the previous mark of 71.41, set by Justin Warren in 2018-19. Albers closed the regular season as the number one ranked golfer in the Sun Belt, currently sitting number 40 in the latest GolfStat national rankings.

Albers closed out his senior season with 20 rounds of par-or-better in 30 rounds played, including 10 rounds in the 60s. He shot a program-record 64 on a pair of occasions, while his 8-under 202 at the Goodwin is tied for the lowest individual mark in program history. He registered top-10 finishes in eight of his 10 events, including winning the Little Rock Invitational and notching runner-up showings at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate and the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

The Buchholz, Germany, native continues to bring in impressive accolades, adding to his Sun Belt Golfer of the Year honor as well as a first team All-Sun Belt selection. Albers last week was named a first team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree as he boasts a 3.96 GPA in finance, including a 4.0 during the spring 2022 semester.

Albers becomes the first Trojan to earn back-to-back All-Region honors as he currently sits second in program history in career scoring average (72.59), career par-or-better rounds (45) and individual career wins (three), one off Daniel Fox's four tournament titles from 1998-01. He is one of three Sun Belt golfers named All-Region, joined by Ben Carr and Mason Williams of Georgia Southern.
