Cameron Jackson Repeats as Sun Belt Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Sophomore sprinter claims honor after running league’s fastest 200m time of the season

NEW ORLEANS – Cameron Jackson continues to reign supreme in the Sun Belt. The Little Rock sprinter repeated as the Sun Belt Conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week after running a league-leading time in the 200m dash.

Jackson ran a Sun Belt-leading time of 20.61 in the 200m last week at the UTA Under Armour Invitational, a mark that ranks him 45th in the nation and 20th on the NCAA West Prelims performance list while ranking tied for 2nd in school history. Now leading the Sun Belt in the 100m and 200m dashes as well as the 4x100m relay, Jackson won the 200m at UTA as well as the 4x100m relay as the Trojan quartet clocked 39.85 for his second win of the day.

He is now the only Sun Belt runner to run under 20.70 in the 200m and his mark of 20.61 is 0.15 seconds faster than anyone else in the conference and is 0.18 faster than the next-highest wind legal time in the league.

The Trojan sprinter claims back-to-back honors for the first time in his career and joins UTA's Joel Bengtsson as the only Sun Belt athletes to achieve that feat this year.

He is next set to run at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships on May 12-14 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
