LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Former Trojan golfer Justin Warren earned his first career PGA tour event start, competing at the Barracuda Championship at Old Greenwood Golf Club in Truckee, California July 14-17. Warren posted a 3-over 145 through the first two rounds, missing the weekend cut but earning some redemption from a year before.
Warren opened the event with a 4-over 75 in round one, including a 1-over 37 through the front nine. Round two saw the Picton, Australia native shoot a 1-under 70, including a 2-under 34 on the front nine, highlighted by a eagle on the par-five sixth hole.
The event served as a bit of redemption from the 2021 event which saw Warren miss a heartbreaking tap-in putt on a sudden death playoff in the qualifying round, which would have given him his first PGA tour start. This year, Warren birdied three of his final four holes in the qualifying round to secure his spot for the weekend.
Warren was a two-year letterwinner at Little Rock, competing for the Trojans in 22 events from 2017-19 and earning first team All-Sun Belt honors in 2019. He held the program's single season scoring average record at 71.41 until this season, when it was broken by
Anton Albers' 70.97, and he currently ranks third in program history in career scoring average (72.86) as his 202 at the 2019 Trinity Forest Invitational is tied for the program's low tournament score with Albers' 202 at the 2022 Goodwin.
